About Me
Hello there, I am DJ Maverick, a multi-instrumentalist with roots as an improvisational Jazz musician. I drew heavily on artists such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and The Doobie Brothers in my formative years. After a break with music, I was drawn back toward music as a means to focus my energy into positive and productive avenues.
After teaching myself the guitar, I picked up the Bass, the Mandolin, and then pretty much anything I could get my hands on. While I love making music in a variety of settings and on different instruments, I am most at home on my Trumpet or Guitar with a band backing me up. That’s where the turntables come in!
Now, as DJ Maverick I combine my experience together to create a new genre of music known as GNU House. Essentially, it is improvisational in nature, no two shows are the same.
However, the key difference is the addition of the GNU mindset, something rare in the music industry. You see, all GNU House Music is open source and free of copyright. While I appreciate when you help support my music, I wants my creations to be freely available to the world. This is because I believe that when we work together, anything is possible. Our limits are only what we believe them to be!!
